13.7. Oil filter of the lubrication system of the engine

The oil filter installed in the engine lubrication system serves for purification of engine oil. It has to meet the following requirements:

– to accumulate and detain the metallic and carbonaceous particles which are formed in engine oil in the course of operation of the engine;

– to have the small hydraulic resistance allowing to give at high extent of purification of engine oil it to the rubbing pairs of the engine;

– the case of an oil filter has to be rather strong, not collapsing at sharp increase in pressure in the lubrication system of the engine and emergency mechanical influence.
