2.9. Correction of the moment of ignition depending on quality of gasoline
An electronic control unit the engine built in the electronic octane proofreader allowing to arrange a control system of the engine depending on the applied fuel of updating of the characteristic of change of a corner of an advancing of ignition. Range of updating of this characteristic allows to use gasoline with octane number 83, 87, 92 or 95. An approximate analog of AI-83 gasoline (a research method of determination of octane number) is A-76 gasoline (a motor method) or AI-80 (a research method). Most closer on value of octane number to A-87 there is AI-92. However when using gasoline with low octane number dynamic characteristics worsen and fuel consumption increases therefore to use gasoline with octane number less than 92 are not recommended.
The characteristic of change of a corner of an advancing of ignition for work on the corresponding gasoline is corrected, closing the corresponding contacts in a block an octane proofreader (tab. 2.1). Numbers of contacts in a block an octane proofreader are shown in fig. 2.3, and colors of wires of contacts are given in tab. 2.2.

The majority of new cars leaves from the plant with control for gasoline with octane number 92.
Use of gasoline with low octane number leads to deterioration in fuel profitability and traction characteristics of the engine.
It is not recommended to use gasoline with octane number less than 92 and to adjust an octane proofreader for work with such fuel.
