3.16. Wheel puncture

The puncture of a wheel is trouble which each driver faces sooner or later. Air can come out the punctured wheel quickly or slowly, it depends also on the size of a subject which punctured a wheel, and from what tires are installed on the car: chamber or tubeless. With a small nail in the tubeless tire it is possible to go many days before you notice that the wheel "lowered".

It is very important to define in time that there was a wheel puncture. During the movement pay attention to behavior of the car: if it began to disperse badly, the effort on a steering wheel when maneuvering increased or course stability worsened, surely check pressure in wheels.

The easiest way to repair a wheel — to address in the next tire workshop where repair will be made quickly, professionally and, as a rule, for quite reasonable price.

    

PREVENTION Do not try to reach a tire workshop on completely lowered wheel: it is enough to pass so several tens of meters and the tire it is necessary to throw out.

The damaged wheel needs to be replaced spare. Nevertheless this quite simple operation demands some skills.

At a puncture of a wheel turn on the alarm system, smoothly slow down the car to the speed of 2-3 km/h, on the I transfer try to move carefully to the region of the carriageway and to stop as it is possible more to the right at a roadside and if it is possible, then outside the carriageway. If road conditions allow and it does not contradict requirements of Traffic regulations, at a puncture of any wheel on the right side of the car nestle on the right roadside, at a puncture at the left — to left. Try not to stop the car in places where the road is badly looked through: in abrupt turns, on descents and rises, bridges, in tunnels. If the car remained on the carriageway, first of all ensure own safety and safety of other participants of traffic! Turn on the alarm system and establish a sign of an emergency stop.
