4.3.3. Check of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism

1. For simplification of access remove the air filter (see. "Removal and installation of the air filter, muffler of noise of an admission and air duct").

2. Remove a forward cover of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. "Installation of the piston of the first cylinder in the provision of VMT of a step of compression").

3. Examine a condition of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism. Replace a belt if at survey you find:

– oil traces on any surface of a belt;

– wear tracks of a gear surface, a crack, undercuts, folds and peeling of fabric from rubber;

– cracks, folds, deepenings or cambers on an external surface of a belt;

– a razlokhmachivaniye or stratification on face surfaces of a belt.

PREVENTION The belt with traces of engine oil on any its surface should be replaced as oil quickly destroys rubber. The reason of hit of oil on a belt (usually owing to violation of tightness of epiploons of cranked and distributive shaft) should be eliminated immediately.

4. Check a belt tension. Correctly tense belt has to turn on 90 ° from the effort of fingers of 15-20 N (1,5–2 kgfs) enclosed in the middle between pulleys of cranked and distributive shaft. If necessary adjust a belt tension (see. "Replacement and adjustment of a tension of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism and replacement of its tension roller").

5. Establish details as it should be, the return to removal.
