5.14.6. Replacement of the fuel tank and its bulk pipe

At detection of leak of fuel from a tank it is recommended to replace a tank. If the grid of the fuel pump often gets littered, remove and wash out a tank.
If the leak in the area of a joint of the top and lower parts of a tank is found, it is possible these places пропаять (it is recommended to do in specialized workshops). For this purpose pour out the gasoline remains, carefully wash out and dry a tank. Then solder the place of a leak soft solder.
    
PREVENTIONS
It is possible to solder only carefully washed out and dried tank which is not containing gasoline vapors, otherwise at the soldering of couple can ignite.
For washing of the fuel tank use the Lobomid detergents, MS or ML. To remove the detergent remains, wash out and steam a tank a stream of hot water. Carefully dry a tank.
It is more convenient to remove an empty tank, working at the elevator, a platform or a viewing ditch. For removal of the remains of fuel remove an electrogasoline pump (see. "Replacement of the fuel pump") also pump out fuel through the opened opening in a tank.

It will be required to you: keys "on 8", "on 12", passatizh, the screw-driver with a flat edge.
1. Reduce pressure in a power supply system (see. "Pressure decrease in a power supply system").
2. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
3. Disconnect the forcing and drain hoses of the fuel pump from pipelines, having squeezed their clamps.
4. Separate the pipeline of removal of vapors of fuel in an adsorber, having squeezed its clamps.
5. Squeeze clamps and separate a block of a plait of wires of the fuel pump.
6. Take a cable of the drive of the parking brake from the holders located on the fuel tank in its forward part...
7. … and on the right.
8. Weaken an inhaling of a collar of fastening of a hose of ventilation and disconnect a hose from a branch pipe of the fuel tank.
9. Weaken a collar of fastening of a hose of a bulk pipe, having squeezed passatizham its unbent ears, shift a collar on a hose and disconnect a hose from a branch pipe of the fuel tank.
10. Having established a support under the fuel tank, turn out two bolts of fastening of a tank to the body basis ahead …
11. … and behind.
12. Remove a support and remove the fuel tank from the car.

    
GOOD ADVICE
Remove the fuel tank with the assistant as the tank quite heavy and has the form, inconvenient for keeping.

13. Install the fuel tank as it should be, the return to removal.
14. After connection of pipelines and a plait of wires of the fuel pump fill in gasoline in a tank, launch the engine and check tightness of all connections of pipelines.

If it is necessary to remove a bulk pipe of the fuel tank, execute the following.
1. Remove the right back wheel and install the car on a reliable support.
2. Turn out four bolts of fastening of the protection cover of a pipe to a body …

4. Disconnect hoses of a bulk pipe and ventilation from branch pipes of the fuel tank (see subitems 8 and 9 of this subsection).

Collar of fastening of hoses and pipelines of one-time use. At assembly fix hoses and pipelines by a new collar.

6. Open the hatch of a mouth of a bulk pipe of the fuel tank and turn out a stopper from a mouth.
7. Turn out three bolts of fastening of a bulk pipe to a body sidewall …
8. … a bolt of fastening of an arm of a bulk pipe to the body basis …
9. … also remove a bulk pipe assembled with an arm and a ventilating hose.
10. In need of replacement of a bulk pipe unfasten the screw-driver an arm clamp …

12. … take sealing plugs from the lower ends of a bulk pipe …
