6.2.9. Repair of the synchronizer

If transfer joins indistinctly or with big effort or does not join at all, before dismantling of a secondary shaft check operation of the synchronizer: the coupling of the synchronizer has to move manually at small effort. If movement of the coupling is complicated (does not move or moves at big effort), repair the synchronizer or replace it assembled.
Spontaneous switching off of transfers testifies to wear or damage of teeths of the coupling of the synchronizer and wreaths of gear wheels.
Synchronizers I and II, and also III and IV transfers are identical on a design therefore they are repaired the same receptions.
You will need the screw-driver.
1. Before dismantling mark position of the coupling concerning a nave.
2. Having hooked the screw-driver …
3. … remove two springs.

NOTE
The second spring in the photo is not visible as it is located from a reverse side of the synchronizer.

4. Take out three crackers from nave grooves …
5. … also remove the coupling from a nave.
6. Examine synchronizer details. Springs should not have wear tracks in places of contact with crackers.
7. Crackers should not be deformed, and the fixing ledges of crackers should not have considerable wear.
8. End faces of shliyets of the coupling …
9. … and the blocking rings should not have vykrashivaniye and jams.
10. The nave should not have забоин shliyets and wear tracks.
11. At installation of the blocking ring on a cone of the corresponding gear wheel the gap between end faces of wreaths of a ring and a gear wheel has to be not less than 1 mm, otherwise replace the blocking ring.
12. Collect the synchronizer as it should be, the return to dismantling, having installed the coupling on a nave according to the tags put before dismantling.
