7.1.4. Repair of a damping rack

Repair of the shock-absorber of a telescopic rack usually does not result in desirable result therefore if necessary we recommend to replace the shock-absorber.
It will be required to you: keys "on 9", "on 19", the device for compression of a spring.
1. Remove a damping rack from the car (see. "Removal and installation of a damping rack").
2. Install the device for compression of a spring and squeeze a spring.
3. Turn off a rod nut, holding a rod from a provorachivaniye the second key.
4. Remove the top support.
5. Remove dish-shaped and flat washers.
6. Remove the protection cover assembled...
7. … and compression buffer.
8. Remove a spring of a forward suspension bracket.

    
NOTE
Replace springs only with couples (right and left at the same time).

9. Remove the lower laying of a spring.
10. Turn out a nut of fastening of the shock-absorber from the rack case, having clamped it in a vice and rotating a rack.

USEFUL TIPS
If you have no vice, turn out a nut an adjustable or pipe spanner.
If a nut strongly of a korrodirovan, try to turn out it by means of a chisel and the hammer.
If the nut did not manage to be turned out in the ways stated above, use a drill for drilling of openings in a nut. When drilling damage of the shock-absorber therefore it is better to apply such way only in case of replacement of the shock-absorber is possible.
We recommend to replace a nut of fastening of the shock-absorber new irrespective of its state.
    
NOTE
Moment of an inhaling of a nut of the shock-absorber of 200 N · m.

11. Remove a nut …
12. … also take the shock-absorber from the rack case.

    
NOTE
If necessary remove a nave and a vypressuyta the bearing (see. "Replacement of the bearing of a forward nave").

13. If necessary disassemble the protection cover. Replace the damaged details.
14. Install the shock-absorber vertically and several times against the stop lower and lift a shock-absorber rod. Make sure that the rod moves without failures, jammings and knocks. Otherwise replace the shock-absorber. Besides, replace the shock-absorber at detection of traces of dribble of liquid (the insignificant otpotevaniye in the top part of the case is allowed) and at damage of a carving to the top part of a rod.

    
PREVENTION
Replace shock-absorbers only with couples (right and left at the same time).

15. Replace the damaged compression course buffer.
16. Replace the top support if the bearing корродирован, has axial movement in the case of a support or it jams at a provorachivaniye.

17. Establish details as it should be, the return to removal. During assembly orient a protective cover so that the ledge (it is shown by an arrow) on the left rack was directed forward (in the direction of the movement of the car), and on the right rack — back. Establish a dish-shaped washer of the 6th bearing of the top support by the unbent edge up (see fig. 7.2).
18. Finally tighten a shock-absorber rod nut on the car standing on the earth, the moment of 55 N · m.

NOTE
After repair of a damping rack check and if necessary adjust the angles of installation of wheels. Use services of the workshops having the special equipment.
