7.2.4. Replacement of a spring of a back suspension bracket

Replace a spring at mechanical damage or considerable draft. Draft signs:
– deterioration in smoothness of the course, frequent "breakdowns" of a suspension bracket;
– the visible distortion of a back part of the car or a considerable difference on height of forward and back parts which arose in use;
– strongly expressed traces of impact of rounds of a spring.

NOTE
Replace springs in a set (left and right at the same time).

You will need a key "on 17".

GOOD ADVICE
It is more convenient to perform work on the elevator and with the assistant.

1. If you replace springs on the elevator, establish under a beam of the back bridge of a support and lower the car, having slightly loaded a suspension bracket. During the work on a viewing ditch this operation is not required.
2. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the shock-absorber to an arm of a beam of a back suspension bracket, take a bolt (see. "Replacement of the shock-absorber of a back suspension bracket") also take the shock-absorber aside that it did not prevent to work.

PREVENTIONS
You do not take the shock-absorber aside on distance bigger, than it is necessary for work, in order to avoid a rod bend.
Do not disconnect at the same time both lower fastenings of shock-absorbers from a beam of a back suspension bracket.

3. Lift the car to unload a spring, and remove a spring 1 and the top laying 2. As a rule, length of a brake hose 3 is enough that it did not stretch, but if you see that the hose stretches, disconnect it for the period of replacement of a spring not to damage (see. "Replacement of brake hoses").

PREVENTION
Carry out removal and installation of a spring extremely carefully in order to avoid launching of a spring from a suspension bracket and getting injured.

4. Remove the lower laying of a spring from the platform on a beam of a back suspension bracket.

PREVENTION
Replace the damaged laying of a spring new.

5. Install a spring with laying on the car as it should be, the return to removal. Replace the second spring similarly, but only after fixing of the lower end of the shock-absorber disconnected when replacing the first spring.
