8.3.2. Replacement of steering draft

It will be required to you: keys "on 12", "on 15", "on 17", "on 19", a key for bolts of wheels, the screw-driver with a flat edge, a stripper of spherical hinges, a caliper.

NOTES It is more convenient to perform work on the elevator. It is possible to carry out it and on the car installed on support. Replacement is shown on the example of the left steering draft, replace the right draft similarly.

1. Lift and establish on a support a forward part of the car from the replaced draft. Remove a wheel.

    

PREVENTION Slow down the car the parking brake and establish an antiretractable emphasis ("boots") under back wheels.

GOOD ADVICE If fasteners are strongly polluted, clear them a metal brush and process the easily getting lubricant, for example WD-40.

2. Having hooked the screw-driver, remove a lock plate of bolts of fastening of steering thirsts for a lath of the steering mechanism.	3. Turn out a bolt of fastening of thirst for a lath …

4. … also take a bolt from openings of the directing level of a lath, steering draft and a basic plate.	5. Take away draft from a basic plate and remove a washer.

6. Turn off a nut of fastening of a finger of the spherical hinge of a tip, establish a stripper of spherical hinges and a vypressuyta a finger of a tip of steering draft (see. "Replacement of an external tip of steering draft").	7. Remove from the car steering draft assembled.

8. Measure the free length of an adjusting bolt.	9. Weaken an inhaling of bolts of klemmovy connections …

10. … also turn out an adjusting bolt from draft and a tip.

NOTE At carving parts of a bolt the different direction of a carving therefore the bolt at rotation will be turned out at the same time from draft and a tip.

11. Clear and examine details of steering draft, replace faulty details.

12. Establish details as it should be, the return to removal. At assembly consider the following requirement: the adjusting bolt has to be screwed in draft and a tip on identical speed. Whenever possible to keep adjustment of a convergence of wheels, at assembly of draft be guided on measured (see item 8) the free length of an adjusting bolt. Moment of an inhaling of a bolt of klemmovy connection of 22 N · m, nuts of a finger of the spherical hinge of 60 N · m, bolt of fastening of thirst for a lath of the steering mechanism of 90 N · m.

13. Check and if necessary adjust the angles of installation of forward wheels (see. "Check and adjustment of angles of installation of wheels").
