9.10.2. Replacement of brake shoes of the brake mechanism of a back wheel

Minimum admissible thickness of frictional overlays of brake shoes of 0,5 mm.
Replace blocks in the following cases:
– thickness of frictional slips of less admissible;
– the surface of slips is greasy;
– the frictional slip is unsteadily connected to the basis;
– slips with deep furrows and chips.
    
PREVENTIONS
Do not apply gasoline, diesel fuel or any other mineral solvents to cleaning of brakes.
Replace blocks at the same time in brake mechanisms of both back wheels.

It will be required to you: a key for bolts of wheels, passatizh or the screw-driver with a flat edge, sliding passatizh.
1. Include the I transfer and establish an emphasis under forward wheels.
2. Check that the lever of the parking brake was lowered against the stop down (the car is stirred up).
3. Remove a wheel (see. "Replacement of a wheel") also install the car on a support.
4. If the level of brake fluid is in a tank of the main brake cylinder on a tag of "MAX" or approaches her, pump out a part of liquid from a tank. Otherwise when replacing blocks it can be splashed out.
5. Remove the brake drum (see. "Removal and installation of the brake drum").
6. Unhook passatizham from a forward block the unbent end of the top coupling spring …

PREVENTION
During the work as passatizha or the screw-driver be careful. We recommend to use special pincers for removal of coupling springs.

7. … and, having turned the second end of a spring in an opening of a back block, remove a spring.
8. Holding a basic rack, press a cup of fastening of a clamping spring, turn it on a quarter of a turn …
9. … also remove a cup and a spring …
10. … and also basic rack.
11. Take away a back block a little back and remove an expansion level assembled with the gap regulator.
12. Move a back block down and forward to weaken a tension of the lower coupling spring, and remove a spring.
13. Disconnect a cable tip from the razzhimny lever and remove a back brake shoe.
14. Take off an earring of the regulator of gaps from a front brake shoe …
15. … spring 1 and lever 2 regulators.
16. Remove a clamping spring and a basic rack of a forward block the same as it was done for a back block (subitem 8-10) …
17. … also remove a forward block.

PREVENTION
Right after removal of blocks fix pistons of the working cylinder in any available way (for example, pull together with a rubber plait or connect by a wire), otherwise pistons can be pushed out from the cylinder by an expansion spring and from a hydraulic system brake fluid will flow out.

18. Clear of pollution and examine details of the brake mechanism (fig. 9.6). Replace the deformed or strongly corroded details. Replace the springs which are strongly stretched, lost elasticity and bent.

    
GOOD ADVICE
At each dismantling of the brake mechanism replace new clamping springs, cups of springs and basic racks.

NOTES
Details of the regulator of gaps of the left brake mechanism are not interchanged with the corresponding details of the right brake mechanism (on the left and right tips of regulators there is a marking of "LH" and "RH" respectively), do not mix them!
Forward 1 and back 2 blocks of the back brake mechanism different in a design (the lever of the parking brake is attached to a back block by means of a rivet axis razzhimny). In addition brake shoes differ as left and right.

19. Apply on places of friction of forward and back brake shoes about a brake board refractory lubricant for brake mechanisms.
20. Grease a carving of a core of 1 expansion level with refractory lubricant for brake mechanisms and screw on it up to the end a nut 2, but do not tighten it.

GOOD ADVICE
We recommend to replace when replacing brake shoes expansion levels assembled with regulators of gaps if they began to korrodirovat as at further operation corrosion can cause failure of the regulator of gaps.

21. Exempt pistons of the working cylinder from the fixing adaptation, squeeze sliding passatizha pistons of the working cylinder and establish brake shoes as it should be, the return to removal.
    
PREVENTION
Consider that at an utaplivaniye of pistons in the cylinder the level of brake fluid in a tank of the main brake cylinder increases. If necessary pump out liquid.

22. Install the brake drum (see. "Removal and installation of the brake drum").
23. Adjust bearings of a back nave (see. "Adjustment of bearings of a back nave").
24. Adjust a gap between brake shoes and a drum, having pressed 10–15 times a brake pedal. By each pressing the click of the regulator has to be heard. If clicks stopped, the gap is established.
25. Establish into place a wheel. Check ease of its rotation.
26. Similarly replace brake shoes of the brake mechanism of other wheel.
27. After installation of brake shoes adjust the parking brake system (see. "Adjustment of the drive of the parking brake").
